Who Are We?
We Are THE GROOM LAKE AUDUBON SOCIETY*
We are the few, the proud, the insane...who trek out to
the vast wastelands of Nevada known as...AREA 51 and the NELLIS AIR COMBAT
RANGE, to watch the sky for our favorite birds, of the military
variety.
We spend vast quantities of time, with our necks craned back, our eyes enhanced by the latest of optical technology, ...seeking to see
the finest of aerial flight, by the wizards of flight, ...the USAF.
We spend countless hours, listening to the wild calls of
our winged 'eagles', using the finest iCOM & Uniden gear, ...hoping for the
words that signal "the fight is on."
We show our appreciation by smiling! It is then that we
are 'one' with our beloved birds.
We, also, seek the illusive secrets of "The
Base."
No one knows it's full mission. It is shrouded in the
heaviest of fog. It lies only mere miles from the "limit line" that cannot be
crossed, for fear of annihilation by the infamous "Camo-Dudes" ...(Or a stiff
fine by the county magistrate). The "Dudes" are there to protect the
nest.
And, it is this nest, this "Base", that birds, we may
never see or hear, are born. From their frail shells they are hatched, to become
the most feared of all beasts of the air. Some say that, these birds, they are
not of this world. We say..."You smokin crack or something?"
We, also, give tribute to those who went before us, to
lay down the foundation for our folly. They went before us, completely blind, to
seek knowledge. They became learned men, discovering things about "the Base" and
the desert. They became legends, mentors and sunburned.
We give a salute to
...The INTERCEPTORS!!...
HIP HIP HOORAH!! HIP HIP HOORAH!!
(Thanks for letting us into your inner
circle!)
